Join the thousands of people around the world who are realising that they can play music! The ukulele has made music making accessible to many who thought they would never make music and the uke revolution is now well developed in Newcastle. The uke is so easy to learn, to play, and to join with others in enjoying music making together.
Mark Jackson is one of Australia’s premier ukulele teachers and has lead the way in Newcastle in introducing the ukulele to adults and children alike through the local ukestra movement. Mark’s groups have been recognised as some of the most innovative and entertaining community ukulele groups in Australia, and have played at festivals in Melbourne, Brisbane and Hawaii. Mark has recently returned from a trip to Hawaii and Canada where he has been honing his uke teaching skills with the world’s best.
At the end of this HCC workshop you will be playing songs, have learned 6-7 chords, strumming patterns, sung, as well as learned some theory and music in the most enjoyable of ways.
Join us for a day of music learning and fun, and then find out about how you can continue your journey by joining up with one of a number of local ukestra groups (more info on those groups at www.ukestra.com).
Please note:
Most people are expected to have their own uke, but some loaner ukes will be available on the day (must be pre-booked with Mark – 0430434291 or mark@ukestra.com).
