Resume

Floral Art and Floral Arranging is my passion! Happily I have been a tutor on the subject with the Hunter Community College for the past 12 years. This has proven to be a delightful part of my life, with the association of the staff at the Hunter Community College and the eager, valuable students. Overall, my career as a teacher of Floral Art has spanned 30 years.

I am in my senior years, having completed a two year Floral Art course with TAFE, after which I was invited to apply to teach the subject with Charlestown Horticultural College of TAFE, which I did for some 13 years. During that time, in conjunction with the Commercial Floristry classes, which I did also teach on a relief basis, my classes & myself were involved in large display work in the entertainment area both in Charlestown Square shopping centre & Garden City. We all had a “ball” so to speak, having the opportunity to use our innovative skills to satisfaction, with outstanding results.

Outside of the teaching, I have had the working experience of flowers for weddings, creating countless bouquets of all shapes & sizes, mostly wired. Garlands, headpieces, flower girl baskets, hoops, fresh flower arrangements for wedding cakes, & of course all the buttonholes & corsages. The wedding flowers were both in fresh & silk, which brings me to another interesting part of my life, that is working along with Judy Bolton at Silk Gardens of Marmong Point.
